Formerly known as the Millburn Centre, it was a conversion of a local primary school in 1989 by local residents who formed Rosemount Development Trust Limited. Their aim was to convert the primary school into a hub offering office accommodation and services for a range of small businesses, training organisations and community groups.
However, for several years, it has no longer served its purpose as a Business Centre and has been sitting vacant since November 2021. The Glasgow Chinese School took ownership of the building on 14th February 2025, and we're delighted to have the centre as a multicultural hub for the local community and beyond.
The Glasgow Chinese School was first opened in 1972, originally based in Garnetbank Primary School in Garnethill, Glasgow.
Due to the gradual expansion of the school, Stow College became our campus in 1988, followed by the Springburn Campus of Glasgow Kelvin College until 2025.
The Multicultural Centre was opened in May 2025 as part of our long-standing commitment to education and community. While our school has been teaching Chinese language and culture in Glasgow for many years, the Centre gives us a chance to open our doors even wider — welcoming everyone to share in learning, creativity, and cultural exchange.
We believe in building bridges between communities. The centre provides a safe and welcoming space for people to gather, learn, and celebrate together — strengthening cultural understanding in Glasgow and beyond.
We’re proud to collaborate with local councils, schools, cultural organisations, and community groups. These partnerships help us to create shared experiences and opportunities for everyone. If your organisation would like to work with us, we’d love to hear from you.
